KVL postponed promising much more
100 players to be seen in action, 8 entities on the verge of owning a team
Kochi, 12th January, 2010: Kerala Volleyball League [KVL], a novel initiative by premier sports management firm, SportzConsult, in association with Kerala State Volleyball Association, has been postponed for want of more time to bring together a sports league of unparalleled scale. The first edition of KVL was scheduled to be held from 20th Feruary, 2010 at Kozhikode in Kerala and was launched two months back. New dates for KVL will be announced shortly.
Mr. Jitendra Joshi, CEO, SportzConsult said, “The concept of KVL got instant acceptance among the enthusiasts and we received tremendous interests for teams/franchise, sponsorship and various partnerships. We have found that franchise owners would need more time to effectively organize their participation. Bringing together a professional management team to run the franchise is the biggest constraint for the franchise owner. Evaluating the scenario and to have a successful league, we decided to take the tough call to postpone the first edition of KVL for a couple of months. We are in discussion with everyone involved to find an amicable date and would have new dates very soon.”
“We have 8 entities on the verge of owning a team. Some partnerships and sponsorships have been finalized.” Mr. Joshi further added.
Mr. Nalakath Basheer, Secretary, Kerala State Volleyball Association said, “We are almost ready with a pool of 100 players for bidding. We will have 24 players from other states playing in the league.”
Kerala Volleyball League will be telecasted Live on a popular TV channel. KVL is expected to bring visibility and recognition to the game across India, US and Middle East benefiting the entire ecosystem of players, coaches and fans. Leading Indian actor, Mammootty, is the brand ambassador and promoter of KVL.
